EU Data Protection and Privacy Laws – GDPR
As you are probably aware, on the 25th May 2018 there are new data protection and privacy laws coming into place that will apply to businesses, groups, and associations of all shapes and sizes.
How we got your data:
At some point over the last few years you will have either trained at a Seitou Ryu Karate dojo, competed at one of our tournaments, attended an event, or made a purchase from our online shop and not opted out of or unsubscribed to mailings.
What sort of data we hold:
If you are not a Seitou Ryu Karate licence holder, we only have your email address on file. If you are a current or previously licensed Seitou Ryu Karate member we only store personal information pertaining to your licence renewal and training details.
How we use your data:
The data we hold is used to send you:
• News and updates about our martial arts events and competitions
• Notifications of pending licence expiry
• New licensing cards and membership materials
• Direct marketing communications and invitations to attend our events
• Invitations to use our resources including online shop, license renewal, and event booking services.
What we will NEVER DO with your data:
We do not share your details with or sell your details to third parties – ever.
We do not send you “spam” or other irrelevant or unsolicited messages. Our members are important to us, therefore, we do not send marketing and sales communications that we consider to be excessive, intrusive or unreasonable.
Your right to object or opt-out:
There is a clear invitation to opt-out at the bottom of all our marketing emails. As you haven’t clicked it yet, and the vast majority of people on our mailing list are paid members, it’s reasonable for us to assume that you are receiving and opening our emails because you wish to continue to do so.
To continue to receive emails from us, no action is required. If you wish to opt-out of receiving emails from us, click the link at the bottom of your any of our emails to be removed from our mailing list.
