Seminar with Shihan Gurmit Singh 13-14 April 2024

On 13th-14th April we had the privilege of hosting a phenomenal weekend of learning karate with Shihan Gurmit Singh.

Over the 2 days he gave an abundance of diamonds and jewels of wisdom, sharing his vast experience and knowledge with our students and many other guests from other clubs, gaining some valuable insight and learning many lessons along the way.

More photos to come on our Facebook page later but for now here’s a handful that were taken over the 2 days of training.

SRK Gasshuku Summer Camp Trailer

The trailer for the SRK Gasshuku Summer Camp is now on our YouTube channel!

The SRK Gasshuku Summer Camp is an annual event hosted in Hockley, Essex where students, instructors and friends of SRK gather together for 3 days of intense training, learning and sharing ideas, whilst strengthening bonds and building new ones during and between sessions and afterwards by the campfire.

This year over 100 students and family members attended the camp, and around half of those also attempted their next grades, ranging from 6th kyu to Junior Shodan Black Belt.

Full video documentary coming soon!

Huge thanks to the team at Budo Collective for filming the event and putting this video together for us.

Photos of the event will be posted on our Facebook page shortly.

SRK Gasshuku Summer Camp 2023

A fantastic weekend of training and strengthening bonds with likeminded karateka. The Gasshuku Summer Camp was a huge success.
101 students and parents attended the camp over the 3.5 days, with some superb sessions delivered by the camp instructors, demonstrating that we have more in common than we do have differences.
  • Sensei Richard Hang Hong (SRK)
  • Sensei Caroline Hang Hong (SRK)
  • Sensei Martin Lawrence (SRK)
  • Sensei Tony Dean (Ishinryu Karate)
  • Sensei Laila Al-Minyawi (Daigaku Karate Kai)
  • Sensei Garry Lever (Karate Collective)
All of whom left everyone craving for more knowledge and wisdom from their sessions.
Friendships were built on the dojo floor, on the fields and by the roaring campfire. Congratulations and commiserations were had as students experienced successes and failures in the grading tests with an 88% pass rate ranging from 6th kyu to Shodan.
Memories were created across the weekend, culminating with an emotional speech from Sensei Richard on Sunday who spoke about why this camp was such a special one and the meaning of the tribute t-shirt.
Thank you to everyone who took part and made it such a great experience. Photos will be up soon and the video documentary from the Budo Collective team will be posted as soon as it’s ready.
See you all at the Winter Gasshuku on 25-26 November.
