SRK Christmas Party 2015

Looks like the club Christmas Party is on!

Due to the lack of availability or high costs at pretty much every restaurant and other venue, we’ve gotten a little creative this year. The Christmas party will be held at the South Ockendon dojo on Saturday 19th December.

As a club everyone has been really pulling together to support events throughout the year so for one last time we’re asking you all to do it one more time by bringing 2 dishes to the party and we can have a big club buffet. Drinks available from the bar.

We have a DJ coming so that we can all bust a move or two on the dance floor. Awards will also be presented at the party too.

Date: Saturday 19th December

Time: 7pm – 11pm

Venue: Royal British Legion, Faymore Gardens, South Ockendon, RM15 5NN

Ticket price: £5 per person

Dress code: Casual/Festive (Christmas jumpers encouraged! 🙂 )

We’re checking what the maximum capacity is but we think it’s around 60 people so tickets are first come, first served.

Sensei Kim Mandy has organised a food list on the Facebook members group. Please only post what you’ll be bringing (any other suggestions are greatly appreciated):

Sausage rolls, Sandwiches, Scotch eggs, Salad, Pizza, Fruit (grapes strawberries etc), Dips, Crisps, Cheese & biscuits, Savoury dish, Sweets, Mince pies, Olives, gherkins, Chicken pieces.

Paper plates and cutlery will be provided.

Please do not bring drinks as they must be purchased from the bar.

Order your tickets next lesson so that you don’t miss out!

Any questions please call Sensei Richard Hang Hong on 07899 827 476

See you there!

Pink Karate for Breast Cancer Awareness 2015

We are proud to announce that our Pink Karate Belt Campaign for the month of October was a huge success and that we managed to raise £400 for breast cancer awareness!

£260 was through donations by our students in class which will be donated to the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity www.helenrollason.org.uk.

£140 was through belt purchases at Pink Karate – Breast Cancer Awareness of which all proceeds are donated by them to Irish Cancer Charities.

We wanted to get every single student who took part in this announcement photo but unfortunately due to various factors we still missed a few so we will post an updated photo with the remaining students later if possible.

Thank you to all of our students and friends and families who supported us last month. We look forward to doing it again next year!

Mother and daughter grading success

Over 200 karateka attended the Seiwakai European Seminar in London this weekend

Congratulations to Sensei Kim Mandy and Sempai Tatum Mandy who were both successful in the Seiwakai and JKF Goju Kai grading tests in London this weekend. Results as follows:

Kim Mandy

2nd Dan Goju Ryu Karatedo Seiwakai
1st Dan JKF (Japan Karatedo Federation) Goju Kai

Tatum Mandy

1st Dan Goju Ryu Karatedo Seiwakai
1st Dan JKF (Japan Karatedo Federation) Goju Kai

Kim and Tatum were a mother/daughter team who trained exceptionally hard over the course of the 2 days training. Association gradings are typically closed affairs but Sensei Richard was able to sit and watch their Seiwakai tests on Saturday and to be a part of their the JKF Goju Kai tests as the kumite referee on Sunday.

We are all very proud of their success and that they represented Seitou Ryu Karate with great spirit throughout.

A mother and daughter team to be reckoned with.
